The word "Bickles" comes from victuals, meaning food or provisions. When enslaved African people were ordered to bring food, they pronounced victual as "bikkle". Jamaica, like parts of Africa, still uses that beautiful word for food today.

Founder Danny Gayle started in the food business in 2011 because, in his words, "Jamaican food deserves to be represented and presented in a contemporary and professional manner." He also runs a pattie distribution company, with past clients including Indigo at the O2 and Peckham Theatre.
Danny has a long-established background facilitating youth and social enterprise programmes, and sits on the board of Commonside Community Development Trust, a charity improving lives and environment in the Merton borough.
A much-loved takeaway and a go-to spot for locals and international visitors alike, becoming a valued pillar of the Brixton community.
Two milestones: we catered our first event and launched our brand of Jamaican patties, quickly building a reputation for unique flavours and high-quality ingredients. After four successful years the Brixton restaurant was acquired by developers and closed, but our passion never wavered.
Our brand was highly regarded as the sole on-site food provider at Indigo at the O2, and remains the go-to name for authentic Jamaican cuisine at corporate events.
